Ceramic, and Why the Speckle Matters
A flat painted base reads as plastic even when it is not. Speckling breaks up the surface so it catches light unevenly — which is exactly what natural stone does, and why the eye reads it as a more expensive material.
Ceramic is also heavy for its size. That matters practically: a light lamp on a bedside table gets knocked over reaching for a phone in the dark.

Getting the Height Right
Beside a bed, the bottom of the shade should sit at roughly eye level when you are sitting up. On a console or side table, aim for a combined height of about 75–85cm from the floor.
Why One Lamp Is Not Enough
Interior designers work to a rough rule of three light sources per room — ceiling, mid-height, and low. Most UAE apartments have only the first, which is why they feel bright but flat.
