A closed-sided cabinet reads as a block of storage. An open cross-leg frame lets the floor run underneath, so the piece looks lighter and the room looks larger — the same trick as a sofa on raised legs.

Champagne is a warm off-gold that sits between beige and metallic. It suits a bedroom with cream or ivory bedding, wooden floors and warm lighting. Against cool greys and chrome it will look yellow rather than warm — in that room, our Arctic Capsule in white or black is the safer choice.
