Which Length for Your TV
A TV stand should be wider than the screen — ideally 15–20cm clear on each side. A screen that overhangs its stand looks unstable even when it is bolted down.
- 160cm — suits up to a 55-inch TV (about 123cm wide)
- 230cm — suits up to an 85-inch TV (about 189cm wide)
Measure your screen's actual width, not its diagonal inches — the two are not the same number and people order the wrong size because of it.
Height and Your Neck
Sitting on a normal sofa, your eyes land around 100–110cm from the floor. The centre of the screen should be near that. At 48cm high, this stand puts a 55-inch screen centre at roughly 82cm — slightly low, which is more comfortable than too high. Wall-mounting above a stand is what causes neck strain, not a low unit.
