The sofa is the piece everyone in the house uses every day, and the one most people get wrong — usually by buying for how a room looks empty rather than how it lives. This collection covers everything from compact 3-seaters to full modular sectionals.

Getting the size right
Measure the wall, then subtract at least 30cm at each end so the sofa doesn't look wedged in. Leave around 45cm between the sofa and your coffee table — enough to walk past, close enough to reach. And measure your doorway, lift and stairwell before ordering a large sectional: modular designs come in sections and fit where a single-frame sofa won't.

Straight, corner or modular?
A straight 3-seater suits a room where the sofa sits against one wall. An L-shaped corner or sectional uses a corner efficiently and seats more people in the same floor area. Modular sofas come in separate blocks you can rearrange — worth considering if you move apartments often, since the same pieces work in a different layout.

Fabric and colour
Bouclé and textured weaves hide daily marks well. Velvet looks richer but shows more. Leather wears in rather than out, and wipes clean — practical with children. Deeper tones hide wear; pale neutrals keep a small room feeling open but need more upkeep.
