Fifteen Sizes Is the Whole Point
Most mirrors come in two or three sizes and you make one of them fit. Here you match the wall instead of compromising on it — there are five options between 120cm and 160cm alone.
Measure the wall first, then work back:
- Above a console or sideboard — the mirror should be roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. A 120cm console suits the 70 x 50cm or 90 x 60cm.
- Full-length in a bedroom or dressing area — you need at least 120cm of height to see your whole body from a normal standing distance. 150cm and up is better.
- Hallway or entrance — tall and narrow works best. 160 x 50cm gives height without eating into the walkway.
Where to Hang It
Centre the glass at eye level — about 145 to 150cm from the floor to the middle of the mirror. Higher and everyone stoops; lower and it reads as an afterthought.
The most useful placement in a Dubai apartment is almost always opposite a window. A mirror facing daylight effectively doubles it, which matters most in the middle rooms of a flat where light never reaches.
Why an Arch
Rooms are made of straight lines — walls, doors, skirting, furniture edges. A curved top breaks that up without adding colour or pattern, which is why arch mirrors sit comfortably in almost any scheme.
