What Buttoning Does
Deep buttoning pulls the upholstery into the frame at fixed points, so the surface holds its shape rather than flattening where you sit. It is why a well-made buttoned chair looks the same in ten years.
The honest trade-off: buttoning collects dust in every dimple. It needs a vacuum brush occasionally, which a flat surface does not.
Four Colours
Black is the classic Chesterfield and the most forgiving. Mocha is warmer and works with wood and brass. Sapphire and Royal Blue are the statement choices — deep blue velvet with buttoning is the most traditional-luxury combination in this range, and it needs a plain room around it.
Placing It
Leave about 30cm of clear space on each side. This chair reads as a formal piece, so it suits a study, a bedroom corner or a living room where it can sit slightly apart rather than in the middle of a casual seating group.
