Eight Options, Three Fabrics
The choice splits into two decisions. First the fabric:
- Terylene — tightly woven, wipes down, holds colour in strong light. The practical one.
- Bouclé — looped texture that hides small marks. Warm to lean against.
- Velvet — richest depth, shifts tone as light moves across it. Shows more.
Then the colour. Off White and White Bouclé keep a room open. Taupe and Ivory are the safe neutrals. Black, Ocher, Olive and Amber are the decisions — in a neutral room, one of those does the work of an accent rug and a piece of art together.
Where a Single Chair Earns Its Place
A pair of armchairs facing the sofa creates a conversation layout and finishes a living room. A single chair does a different job — it fills a corner, a bedroom, a landing, or the space beside a window, without needing company.
If you are buying one, put it where someone will actually sit. A chair nobody uses becomes a place to put laundry.
Placing It
Leave about 30cm of clear space on each side. Beside a sofa, keep the seat heights within about 5cm of each other.
