Asymmetry, and Why It Is Harder to Live With
A symmetrical chair looks the same from either side, so it can go anywhere. An asymmetric one has a correct orientation — the taller side should face into the room, or toward the seating group, not into a wall.
That is a real constraint. Decide where it goes before you order, and make sure the shape will be seen from the side you want. Placed wrong, an asymmetric chair just looks like a symmetrical chair that went wrong.
Two Colours, Two Different Chairs
Emerald Green velvet makes the shape the loudest thing in the room. Choose it only if the room around it is plain — white walls, neutral sofa, wooden floor.
Off White lets the silhouette do the work quietly. In a room that already has colour or pattern, this is the version that will still look right in five years.
Placing It
Away from the wall, or at an angle in a corner where both sides are visible. Leave at least 40cm of clear floor on the open sides.
