Rippled Edge, and When to Choose It
A plain frame disappears into the wall. A rippled one is a decorative object in its own right. That makes it the better choice on a bare wall where the mirror is the only thing there — and the worse choice above a busy console or beside patterned wallpaper.
A simple rule: if the wall needs filling, choose this. If the wall is already doing work, choose the plain arch at the same price.
Choosing the Size
- Above a console — aim for about two-thirds the width of the furniture below. A 120cm console suits 70 x 50cm or 90 x 60cm.
- Full-length — 120cm of height is the minimum for a full-body reflection; 150cm and up is more comfortable.
- Hallway — 160 x 50cm gives height without narrowing the walkway.
Where to Hang It
Centre the glass around 145 to 150cm from the floor. Opposite a window is the placement that pays off most in an apartment — daylight lands on the glass and bounces into the parts of the room it otherwise never reaches.
Give a decorative outline clear wall on both sides. Pushed into a corner, the shape stops registering and you have paid for a detail nobody sees.
