Rattan Changes a Room
Every other table in this collection is stone, wood or plaster — hard, flat, closed. A woven top does the opposite: light passes through it, the texture reads from across the room, and it looks handmade rather than manufactured. In a living room that has gone entirely neutral surfaces, that is worth more than another beautiful slab.
The honest limits. A woven surface is not a flat one: a glass will not sit as steadily as it would on stone, and crumbs find the weave. Use a tray if you eat in front of the sofa.
It also suits a covered balcony — but keep it out of standing water and constant direct sun, both of which shorten rattan's life.
80cm Square at 36cm Tall
The two-thirds rule puts this alongside a sofa of about 120cm — a compact two-seater, or a grouping of chairs. At 36cm it sits below most sofa seats, which keeps the sightline open.
Ash and Asymmetry
Ash is a pale hardwood with straight, visible grain — the natural partner to rattan, since both read as light rather than heavy.
The frame is intentionally uneven rather than four matching legs, so the table looks different from each side. Place it where more than one side is visible; pushed flat against a sofa, the design disappears.
