A Full Living Room, Sized Together
Buying a sofa and a coffee table separately usually means one of them is wrong — the table too tall for the seats, or too small for the length of the sofa. Supplied together, the proportions are already resolved: the table height sits below the seat cushions, and its length is right for the run of the sofa.
The general rule, if you are matching pieces yourself: the coffee table should be roughly two-thirds the length of the sofa, and level with or slightly below the seat.
Three Colours
White keeps a room open and light. Beige is the most forgiving day to day. Pink is the brave one — in a neutral room with a wooden floor it becomes the reason the room looks designed rather than furnished.
