Dark Velvet, and Why It Works Here
Most sculptural accent chairs are pale — white bouclé, ivory, cream — because a light colour shows the shape. Onyx does the opposite: the form reads as a silhouette rather than a surface, which is why it sits well in a room that already has enough going on.
Dark velvet is also the practical end of the fabric range. It hides daily marks better than any pale upholstery, and velvet's pile gives it depth so a black chair does not read as a flat block.
A Cantilevered Seat
No back legs means the floor runs unbroken underneath, so the chair looks lighter than its footprint. It also means the seat has a slight give when you sit — the frame flexes marginally rather than being rigid, which is comfortable in a way a four-legged chair is not.

Against a pale wall, where the dark silhouette has something to read against. In a dark room it disappears. Leave about 30cm of clear space on each side.
