Measure Your Counter First
Bar chairs get returned more than almost any furniture, and it is nearly always a height problem.
Leave 25–30cm between the seat and the underside of the counter. Less and your knees hit the worktop; more and you sit too low to eat comfortably.
- Kitchen counter (90cm) — needs a seat around 60–65cm
- Island or bar (105–110cm) — needs a seat around 75–80cm
Measure to the underside of the counter, not the top. Message our team on WhatsApp with that measurement and they will confirm this chair's seat height before you order — two minutes that saves a return.
Terylene, and Why It Suits a Kitchen
Terylene is a tightly woven synthetic with no pile to crush and no loops to catch. It wipes clean, and it holds its colour under strong light rather than fading.
On a kitchen island — where coffee gets spilled, children eat, and afternoon sun comes through — that is the specification that matters. Velvet looks richer and shows more; our velvet bar chair is that option at a lower price.
A Back That Actually Supports
Most bar stools have a token backrest or none at all, which is why people stop using them after ten minutes. This has a full supportive back — the difference between a perch and a seat.
It also means it takes more room. Allow the chair to pull back fully without hitting a wall or walkway behind it.
Four Colours
Black and Graphite hide daily marks best and anchor a pale kitchen. Sand warms a white scheme. White keeps a small kitchen open but shows the most.
Spacing Them
Allow about 60cm of counter width per chair — so two need roughly 120cm of clear island edge, three need 180cm.
