What a Barrel Back Does

The back and arms are one curve rather than three separate surfaces. There is no corner where an armrest meets a backrest, which is where most chairs start to feel uncomfortable after twenty minutes of sitting at an angle.

It also means the chair reads as a single rounded form from every side, so it works away from a wall — in the middle of an open-plan room, or turned into a corner at an angle.

Olive Green, and Why It Is the Easy One

Olive is the strong colour people regret least. It is muted enough to behave like a neutral in a room of wood and cream, but it is unmistakably a colour — so one chair does the work of a rug and a piece of art together.

It also holds up under UAE daylight. Cooler greens and greys wash flat at midday; olive keeps its depth.

Chenille

Chenille has a short dense pile with a slight sheen, so it feels soft and looks richer than a flat weave. It sits between bouclé and velvet — more forgiving than velvet, less textured than bouclé.

The honest trade-off: pile fabrics show pressure marks where someone has been sitting. They brush out, but you will see them.
