What "Occasional" Really Means
An occasional chair is the one that is not part of the main seating group. It sits in a bedroom corner, beside a window, in a hallway, or opposite the sofa at an angle. It gets used less often than the sofa but it is often the most comfortable seat in the house, because nobody is sharing it.

Bouclé, in Practical Terms
Bouclé's looped texture breaks up light, so small marks and shadows disappear into the surface instead of sitting on top of it. That is what makes white and ivory bouclé workable on a chair used daily — a flat fabric in the same colour would show everything.
It is also warmer to lean against than velvet or leather, which matters more than people expect in an air-conditioned room.
Four Tones
White and Sand keep a small room open and suit pale, neutral schemes. Ash is the practical middle. Black anchors a light room and hides marks best — though in a small space it will feel heavier.
Placing It
Leave about 30cm of clear space on each side. For a reading corner, allow room for a floor lamp behind and to the side rather than directly overhead — light over your shoulder, not in your eyes.
