Why Folding Matters in the UAE
Outdoor furniture here has a season. From October to April a terrace is usable most evenings; from May to September it is 45°C and nobody goes out there.
Fixed furniture spends those five months baking in direct sun, fading and filling with dust. A folding set goes into storage and comes back out in October looking the way it did in April. That habit alone roughly doubles how long outdoor furniture lasts in this climate.
Seating Four Outdoors
Allow about 60cm of table edge per person and roughly 90cm of clear space behind each chair so people can push back and stand — the same rule as indoors, and the one most balcony layouts break.
If your balcony is under about 2.5m across, the two-chair version will fit better and cost half as much.
Acacia and Powder-Coated Steel
Acacia is a dense hardwood with natural oils that resist moisture — the standard choice for outdoor furniture. The steel is powder-coated, a baked-on finish that resists chipping and rust far better than paint. Polypropylene feet protect tiled flooring.
Looking After It Here
- Clean with mild soapy water and wipe dry. Do not leave it standing wet.
- Re-stain the wood once or twice a year — UAE sun dries timber out, and untreated acacia greys and cracks.
- Store it folded through the summer, or keep it covered.
- Rinse dust off after a sandstorm instead of wiping it across the surface.
Cushions
Polyester covers (at least 90% recycled) over polyurethane foam. Hand-wash only, up to 40°C — no tumble drying, no ironing. Make sure they are completely dry before storing them away, or they will hold moisture.
