Read This Before You Order
A pendant needs an existing ceiling point to hang from. Most UAE apartments have recessed downlights in a false ceiling and no central fitting.
If there is none where you want it, you will need an electrician, and in a false ceiling that can mean opening a panel to run cable. In a rental, check with your landlord first. Message our team on WhatsApp if you are unsure what your ceiling has.
Ambient, Not Task Light
Say this plainly, because it decides whether it is right for you. Layered shades diffuse light sideways and give a soft overall glow. They do not throw a bright pool onto a table.
Over a dining table where people eat and read, that may not be enough on its own — pair it with table lamps or keep the downlights. In a bedroom or living room, where soft is exactly what you want, it is the right choice.
The Layers
Overlapping curved sections rather than one continuous shade. Each layer casts a shadow on the one below, so the fitting has depth and movement even switched off — which matters, because a ceiling light is on view all day and lit only in the evening.
How High to Hang It
Over a dining table: bottom of the shade 75–90cm above the tabletop.
Anywhere people walk: at least 2.1m from the floor.
The Bulb
Choose warm white, around 2700–3000K. On a white layered fitting the bulb colour becomes the colour of the whole piece.
